And...
A decision has to be reached regarding the open position in the Tax Collector office. For now, we have Faith in the temporary role of Tax Collector thru the election in November. There is no Deputy Tax Collector at this time
We need to advertise for candidates for Tax Collector to be elected in November to fill out the term of Heather (1.75 more years) after which (assuming it will pass) we will fill the role by appointment.
According to employment law - The positions currently filled with elected individuals do not automatically flow to those folks when the position becomes appointed. They must apply for the position if they wish to stay. They will be considered along with any other applicants.
We may want to advertise for a Deputy Tax Collector to assist Faith - That person may likely stay IF Faith chose to run for the position, was elected and later appointed as Tax Collector - or - either apply for tax collector - or - leave Hollis employment.
As we have seen in these past few months- The lines were out the door often with even 2 tax collectors open. Changing hours, adding part-time staff (hard to think part-time when the week is currently 29 hours)
There's much to think about. I am partial to an additional body that is shared between the Tax Collector and Town Clerk to maintain both lines of business. The issue stated at the beginning is almost a separate matter.
Finally - Faith is wondering if there is a monitory adjustment.
Say when regarding discussion.
