Good Morning everyone - My name is Mike Harnois. I serve on the Hollis Select Board and it’s an honor to be up here today paying tribute to Mr. Hanson. "I didn't have the privilege of knowing Bob Hanson the way all of you did - but I’ve come to understand exactly the kind of man he was, through the town he helped build and the people he shaped along the way. Bob's fingerprints are everywhere here: in the roads he kept up as Road Commissioner all those years, in one of Hollis's oldest small businesses that he built, and most of all, in the people he inspired to give their time and serve their community." One of those people is Dan Yarumien, who I serve along side on the Select Board today. You probably know this, but Dan’s a genuinely great guy and a colleague I'm proud to work with. Dan shared something with us that comes from real, personal experience with Bob, and if you wouldn’t mind, I’d like to tell you about that experience. So these aren't my words, they're Dan's. I'll read them now, as he wrote them." I first met Bob shortly after high school because he let my friend (and a few years later, brother-in-law) regularly use his garage in evenings to work on his Beach Ridge Thursday night thunder race car. Bob was always there mostly hanging out drinking his reheated coffee he brewed that morning (or maybe even the morning before), offering advice, jokes & stories, tinkering on one of his antique tractors, or making sure the pleasant hill peddler was ready for the next parade. From this connection I continued to meet more and more of Bob's family… who as we all know are famous for their volunteerism and willingness to help in our town. Down to earth, real, every day people. This was the family that encouraged me to start my own civic service after taking residence here, starting in the budget committee (way back when you had to be voted in), through the finance committee, and this and that committee….to today. So in roundabout way, Bob's generosity is a major factor as to why I am on the Hollis Select Board and quite possibly the reason I have the family I am blessed to have.
Hey Dan, I tried to make an opening that leads into your words (slightly edited). Take a look and maybe add/edit anything you want from your sentiment.
Also… TM eval - I’m trying to send Ben everything all at once. If you have.
Mike
