Hi Daniel, Thanks for reaching out and I am so glad to hear you are moving forward with your application. I can't speak to your specific concerns, as I think that would vary from town to town. One practice we use with the state is to ensure we have a right of way that won't disturb existing trails and can be accessed for harvesting.
I've cc'd Adam Fisher from the MTP program who may have a broader context than me regarding this concern. Another approach is to reach out with other towns that have town forests and recreation. Bethel, Thomaston, and Bangor are a few that come to mind.

Hi Nicole,
We passed all of our environmental / historical reviews and I still plan on submitting an application for a MTP trail grant for bike trails on a town forest in Hollis (glad to hear the date was pushed back a bit) One concern a few of my selectboard colleagues raised is if we are awarded this grant will it effect the towns rights for future forest management practices? This parcel has been harvested a few times in the past by the town and has a good stand of pine, its not due to be harvest again for atleast 7 or 8 years but they dont want the town to loose control of this being allowed to happen in the future. Everything i can find says this is nothing to worry about, trails of all kind are built using grants all the time in working forests in the state, but do you have anything to confirm that i can share?
Thanks Dan
